Cameron Highland, Malaysia

Cameron Highlands is the smallest district in the state of Pahang which is located in the north-western corner of the state. It is situated at 1520m above sea level, this is Malaysia's green bowl supplying vegetables to the major cities of the country and to Singapore.

The cool climate makes it an excellent tea growing area and indeed the Cameron tea is highly prized in the world market. With temperatures ranging between 25 and 10 degrees Celsius, this place is popular all year round with tourists.

Places of interest are the Robinson Falls, the Rose Garden nurseries and the strawberry and vegetable farms. A visit to the tea plantation is well worthwhile, to see how one of the world’s favourite beverages is processed fresh from the plantations. Stroll around and admire the old colonial buildings such as the Old Smokehouse. This hill station is surrounded by jungles and trails are marked for jungle trekking. There are various villages inhabited by Orang Asli.

How to get there
By Road: The only way to get to Cameron Highlands is by road. Until a few years back, you could only get to Cameron Highlands from the south via Tapah but since the opening of the new Simpang Pulai road, traveling to the highlands has become much more easier. You can also get here from the east coast via Gua Musang in Kelantan

By Bus: Buses to Cameron Highlands operate daily from Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Penang. Buses from Kuala Lumpur depart from the Pudu Raya Station and KL Central. Buses from Penang depart from Prangin Mall / Komtar.

Genting Highland, Malaysia

Genting Highland is a mountain peak within the Titiwangsa Mountains on the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor of Malaysia and is home to the famous Genting Highlands Resort, otherwise known as Resorts World Genting.


It is situated at 6,000 feet above sea level, Genting has everything to offer including natural cool mountain air and 24 hours of non-stop entertainment catering for the many diverse cultures and visitors from all over the world.

Genting also has the distinction of having Genting Skyway - “the longest cable car in Southeast Asia”. Enjoy the cable car right up to the summit, the lower station is situated near the Awana Golf and Country Resort. The 20 minute ride ascends from 914m to 1768m.

As an entertainment destination, Genting satisfies every need of a pleasure seeker. The supreme attraction of Genting is its famous casinos, the only legal casinos in Malaysia. The casinos feature all the popular gambling games and in addition, some of the Chinese games. The casinos attract a large crowd to the highlands.

The theme parks provide unique experience of Snow House and Haunted Adventures, and feature separate rides in different categories such as thriller family and children. Other attractions are Genting Sky Venture, the only free-fall skydiving simulator in Asia, and Genting X-pedition Wall, an international-standard rock-climbing wall stretching to 15 metres in height, with a 6-metre overhang. There is also bowling, a video arcade, a cineplex and many more fun rides.

How To Get There
By Road: About 45 minutes' drive from Kuala Lumpur via the Karak Highway.

By Bus and Skyway
: Express Bus from Pudu Raya bus station. From Putra LRT (Terminal Putra Gombak) to Genting.

8.00am to 7.00pm - from Terminal Putra Gombak to Genting Skyway
9.15am to 8.15pm - from Genting Skyway to Terminal Putra Gombak

Fraser's Hill, Malaysia

Fraser's Hill is one of the quieter hill retreats in Malaysia. It is located in Pahang, just across the border from Selangor, along the main range. It is sit at 1,524 metres above sea level, this highlands resort is a naturalist's paradise that boasts innumerable plant, bird and animal species.

Fraser's Hill is popular with the locals and foreign tourists for its greenery, forest walks, fresh air and exotic flower gardens. It has many attractions within and around the area. You can enjoy a round of golf on the undulating fairways bordered by lofty ferns and pine trees.

Visit the flower nurseries, go horse riding or enjoy a boat ride on the lake. There is a nature education centre where visitors can learn about the flora and fauna of the area.

Bird watching is a very popular pastime and Fraser's Hill is the venue of the annual Bird Race which attracts many foreign omithologists.

How to get there
By Road : Fraser's Hill, 100 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur can be reached via the Karak Highway. Turn left at the Bentong junction and proceed to Teranum. At Teranum, take the left turn towards Gap before the short ascent up to Fraser's Hill.

Alternatively, one can also take the old trunk route heading towards Penang and turn off at Kuala Kubu Bharu for the drive to the Gap. The last 8 km from the Gap to the top of Fraser's Hill 9 scenic, narrow winding which carries one-way traffic 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.

By Bus: There are regular bus services from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Kubu Bharu and then to Fraser's Hill. From Kuala Lumpur, board the Kuala Kubu Bharu bound bus at the Pudu Raya Bus Terminal. From Kuala Kubu Bharu, the Fraser's Hill bus service operates twice daily uphill at 8.00am and 12.00 noon. Downhill services are at 10.00am and 2.00pm.
